Hi there.
I'm trying to get gmapmaker to use http://www.multimap.co.uk/ as one of it's sources - I was editing the GoogleMT url value in gmapmaker.exe.config to do this.

The map http://www.multimap.com/s/POZaTDoW consists of maptiles with the following urls:
http://mc1.multimap.com/ptiles/map/mi902/17/031313/131331/3111.png?client=public_api&service_seq=14458

Can anyone work out the correct format to input the url value in the config file? It must be something like http://mc*.multimap.com/ptiles/map/mi902/ZZZZ/XXXX/YYYY/*.png but the *.png bit must need rearranging. Can't see how at the moment. ANy help appreciated, multimap has excellent ordnance survey maps and others that show footpaths when zoomed in tight!

Found a pair of mesages with the same subject, but I think I'm not banned couse I can see google maps using the explorer.

If I use gmapmaker using proxy settings I get a white image of satellite pictures (the program ends the process but the .jpg file that makes is empty. If I keep the cache folder opened, I can see the program that creates the image file and then is erased)

If I use gmapmaker without proxy, I get the message I'm banned (but I can see the maps with the internet explorer)

I can perfectly download roads and terrain (it only fails with satellite imag
es)

am I doing something wrong?
Thanks

I successfully downloaded te GoogleMap images( I downloaded with 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 parallel - i opened gmapmaker 4 times). 429 MB Razz

Now i reinstalled the program and started the same thing with satellite images(GoogleSat) and i started it an hour ago but there are still empty GoogleSat folders in the Gmapcache folder.

Maybe you got temp-banned by Google? See http://forum.mgmaps.com/viewtopic.php?t=1231&highlight=banned

I Think i found a problem with gmapmaker I'm downloading hybrid maps and its doing the usual progress lines exactly like its actually working and downloading files but no map files are going into the cache folder only folders are being made.

With the perl script the cache is actually being populated with files.

On google maps and terrain gmapmaker populates files fine but not on hybrid or satellite.

Hi!! So i found this site off another site which specializes with my phone the LG VU Cu920. I followed the instructions and downloaded a road map version .map file with one zoom level for about half the state of Pennsylvania. When i open it up with gMapMaker however, the download is extremely slow to non-existent.

I have tried allowing more downloads as well as shrinking the number of simultaneous downloads, but I have yet to finish the first line of the first file. I was wondering what this could be caused by. Im not downloading satellite images so i shouldn't be banned or need a proxy, and i have tried all four sources(Google, Yahoo, Ask, Microsoft) but they all seem to have the same speed. How can i expedite my downloading?

I have problem with new version for blackbery, 1.41.xx. It wont open my stored maps, I was useing 256 tiles per file and it worked fine on ver. 1.39.xx.

1 tile per file still works, hash size 97 for example, but then i have too many files.

Any solution for this?

thanks

The current version 1.41 for blackberry was developed is not "official" as it was developed by a "third party" (ID on this forum: dmytro). Try to send him a PM or ask on the thread about "offline search".

Because I think, this is a special theme, I have posted my latest observations to this issue in the following separate theme in this forum. Perhaps we can focus this:

The Perl Script is a command line tool for downloading maps.

I noticed with the script possibly 40% or more of the hybrid maps come up as not found when downloading.

Oh then you must be a very happy guy! Shocked Within all my download folders I can be happy, if I find one or two satellite maps, usually with 12kB til 25kB file size. All other files are about 2,19kB and do contain a html-code telling, that google has banned you due to "automatic requesting" their services and that google has to protect itself against such automatic downloads.

As other posts here tell, that also MS Yahoo etc. have activated similar filters like Google has done, and as I can read, that TrekBuddy users do have all the same problems, I suppose, that gMapMaker is as dead as the similar tools which are used from TrekBuddy users.

Any time, the programmers will find a way, to trick out google limitations, Google will find an antidot, to keep people like us from downloading maps for free.
This is "normal profit oriented behaviour" because all web based map services are part of a business model for generating money. And as often, these services are free at the beginning, in order to make them popular. If a certain amount of popularity and / or number of user has been established, they turn it to a payed service on the one or other way.

That's like in real life. Laughing

Kind regards

That format is not supported by MGMaps or GMapMaker, but the good news is it can be used... for instance http://mc1.multimap.com/ptiles/map/mi902/17/031313/131331/3111.png?client=public_api&service_seq=14458 is the same map tile as http://r1.ortho.tiles.virtualearth.net/tiles/r0313131313313111.png?g=174&shading=hill (from live maps), as you can see the number is just split into groups of 6 digits. I'll see when we can add it to MGMaps, probably only in the development version.

I have a stupid question: What does gMapMaker do when it's finished?

I've been downloading a bunch of maps for nearly 24 hours now, and since late last night the downloads have all been at 100%, doing nothing. I thought perhaps google had booted me, so I've been waiting the 24 hours for it to continue (some time in the next couple of hours I hope), but on the off chance that it's frozen or something, it does tell you it's finished, right?

When it's finished all bars are at 100%. We'll have to fix that cancel button to change to close when it's done, maybe some other developers more experienced with .net programming/multithreading can help.

Problem is that even when all bars are 100% there are a few missing tiles hehe

But I guess I can at least know when it's done Razz Now I'll just have to wait an hour or so while I transfer the maps over USB1 . Razz

Hello
I've added some things to the gMapMaker.
Better selection (use little world image to open Virtual Earth map, and then left click is for Top-Left Corner and right button is for Bottom-Right corner).

"Cancel" button change text to "Done" when all tiles are downloaded.
(it should work, I check if there are any threads still working).

here are sources and compiled version: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/134124/Code/gMapMaker_ut.zip

Compiled version (ready to run) is in the \gMapMaker_ut\gMapMaker\bin\Release folder.

In case of any question or bug give me PM.
Hope you'll like my changes.

edit:
And here's little presentation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9E2YjI7PkBk

Hi,

I just tried it but the virtual earth control doesn't work as expected. I only tried the binaries, didn't have time to compile it (I hope you didn't include a virus Twisted Evil )... The coords I chose are large values like "3.74399740522706E+15". In addition, the zoom level is not automatically filled in, and the control only works in "MGMaps mode, use entered area" which means it can only load one zoom level at a time.

The Cancel button also changes to Done before all threads have finished. I think it changes when the first thread is done.

Is there any other change included with the version you sent?

Heh :)
I'm using it for downloading maps for Ozi Explorer and it meant to be easy selection of coords.

As for debug button, version from post should change text to done only after all therads are done. I'll check it tomorow.

Hi,

gMapMaker can't work in "Download tiles" mode, maybe it's a bug? It can work when the operation mode is set to "Build image & OziExploer" and with all other parameters unchanged.

BTW, how to disable rebuilding an image which is already exist? When IP is banned sometime, I need to obtain a new IP and restart the download process. I don't want to rebuid images which were built in the last download process.

thanks !

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.
