Since the data needed for driving directions is downloaded as well , I wonder if a feature can be added to save them (Either on the PC or the phone). It will be quite useful, becoz we can avoid needing internet connection while driving.

Right, actually this could be easier to add -- just pre-compute directions for a few routes and save them in the local storage.

Agreed. Smile

So, if MGMaps is able to load and show gpx files (pretty much the xml standard for waypoints / routes) and/or different types, it should be easy to do this.

An interesting script to help downloading gpx files containing routes ("from A to B") generated by Google Maps is this: http://www.elsewhere.org/journal/gmaptogpx/

It works like a charm and even shows the waypoint description (CTM and DESC) of the route, in this case the directions at waypoints.

kml file support is already partly present - only the lines need to be added (Cristain will be adding that shortly, I guess).

I am able to get driving directions KML loaded in to mgmaps already. It shows all the waypoints along the way - thats more than enough for now.

Sure!

I wonder if Christian is back on the track for these issues?

Some lines to be added?

Smile

Cheers
