Dear MGMaps developers,

I wanted to collect some information from you how to set up the development environment for MGMaps. Maybe some of you also have some build scripts or similar ready and can also help me in solving my issues.
After looking through the threads I found the following set of threads beeing useful for emulation:
http://forum.mgmaps.com/viewtopic.php?t=1529
http://forum.mgmaps.com/viewtopic.php?t=1203
http://www.mgmaps.com/weme/
http://www.mgmaps.com/winset/

Anyway this does not fully answer what is most convenient for development.

I set-up an environment using:
- Java SDK 5.0
- Latest Eclipse
- SVN Plugin (Tortoise & Co.)
- Sun Java Wireless Toolkit in (JWT) Version 2.5.2_01 (the newer 3.x seems buggy and did not work for me),
- EclipseME
- The classpath needs the JWT files and of course the special library jar from the SVN (somewhere in root)

Setting up was well described on JWT and EclipseME websites and worked fine. I have the 1.4 branch running. I have a simulation running from JWT, which currently lacks direct touch input.
For compiling/building JAR there is a menu option in EclipseME, afterwards I can directly start the simulation from Eclipde. But obviously I get build errors (can not delete files) around every second time...

Does anybody know how to use touch input with JWT?
Is there a better way to set up the development environment?
Also I was not yet successful with putting it on my Sony-Ericson, I guess I need some kind of certificates, but that I still have to check (I guess I can borrow from Chris...).

Please provide some further input (maybe there is some description already available) to me so that I am in a good position to write things down. Thanks!

That's mostly the same as my setup. I used a different toolkit, one from Nokia that had all the CLDC/MIDP classes in a single zip file. Then I updated that classes.zip file with classes from other manufacturers, like Samsung or Blackberry. You can find the updated classes.zip in the repository in /extra/, and the toolkit I used was Nokia_S40_DP20_SDK_1_1.

None of the default devices support touch/pointer input, but you can write custom devices for that. For instance WinDevice -- http://forum.mgmaps.com/viewtopic.php?t=1529.

Not at this time, but it would be good to reorganize it and use preprocessing instead of separate branches, have all libraries inside the repository...

Not really, you only need certificates to avoid being asked for file access each time (with stored maps).

Hello

I am trying to set up the toolchain for compiling mgmaps and found out that Java Wireless Toolkit is outdated and now Java ME SDK should be used. I tried this but cant get things working.
Has anyone compiled mgmaps with Java ME SDK? Is there anything special I must take care of?

Also EclipseME has now evolved to Eclipse Mobile Tools for Java.

No I am stuck at this error message at build 1.4

Quote:
The project was not built since its build path is incomplete. Cannot find the class file for javax.microedition.io.StreamConnection. Fix the build path then try building this project Mobile GMaps 1.4 Unknown Java Problem

The type javax.microedition.io.StreamConnection cannot be resolved. It is indirectly referenced from required .class files FileUtils.java /Mobile GMaps 1.4/com/mgmaps/utils line 51

I hope anybody can give me a hint what to do?
