This must have been requested before, but is there any chance of an offline mode for KML files to go with the cached maps? Ideally I'd like to be able to browse for and load a KML file from the phone / memorystick and be able to save KML files that have been loaded from the internet.

Cheers

Hi,

I am a happy new user of m-gmaps.
Is it possible to acces the KML-Files on the MemoryCard?

E:/GPS/tour_switzerland.kml

Best regards,
Ortwin

The ability to record tracks and then upload them for viewing on gmap-track.com (or save them as KML) will also be added...

That's the perfect function for a person who lives in a country with no maps available, so you can draw your own maps on google earth and save it in a KML file

Try the latest version of MGMaps (1.39.07), it should work fine with open kml - if it doesn't post a reply.

Tried the latest version of MGMaps (1.39.07), .... still no success to open kml in e:
I have attached the .kml file: tr1.kml.
Uses a SE W800i

Have also send you an error report via Mobile GMaps from with degug log.

The file browser does not work in the VIEW KML function to select the .kml file, so I have to wite the path and name of .kml file by hand. How shall the path be expressed
e:/sav1/tr1.kml or /e:/sav1/tr1.kml or /sav1/tr1.kml ?

hmmmm.. just discovered in an another thread that MGMaps only supports
"placemark"

Below follows an extract of th .kml file.... not sure how to read it...does it use "placemark" ? (suppose not...)

Made some more testing related to the offline path for .kml file in e:

The VIEW KML/OPEN FILE UI suggests that the path shall start with just a "/", this is no OK, instead path shall be as usual e:/, then I succeed in reading the .kml file. Perhaps the "/" shall be removed to avoid confusion.

Though it reports "No Places" at reading the .kml file...?

Is the content of the .kml file of wrong type. It was generated with MobiTrack...

I got your report, I'll just send it back so you can see it. The path should be e:/sav1/tr1.kml .

You're right, currently MGMaps only supports Points within placemarks, and there's another bug - if an unrecognized placemark is found (for example a linestring) the parsing stops.

Thanks, when I removed the Linestring Placemarks in the .KML file, the track displayed itself onscreen .

Hi Cristian, Is the bug that stops parsing of .kml files, still present in latest non- BlueBerry MGMaps release ?

The bug was caused when parsing of an unrecognized placemark is found (for example a linestring).

I am currently using MobiTrackPro to log a track into a .kml file, but I then later manually on a PC have to remove occurencies of Placemark Linestrings, which is a minor problem but still a time consuming problem.

Can you recommend another .kml mobile log tool that works directly together with MGMaps ?

/BR Roger

As far as I know that was fixed in the latest version. Just to make sure, use the development version of MGMaps (v1.41.04).
