Yeah, it searches for a few known platforms (at least JBed and J9)... did you try it with Sun's JVM for Windows Mobile?

Yes. It is listed as "SUN Java" in the start menu. I'll try to send error report from mgmaps, maybe from system info you can see something useful to recognize the JVM properly.

ps. midpsysinfo shows: "property.microedition.platform = j2me"

Not good, that "j2me" identification string is very generic, it's the same on many non-WM Motorola and Samsung phones...

This is not fixed! I have SonyEricsson X1 phone and installed this GPSPort - this don't help nothing! Maybe there should be good idea to rewrite complete MGMap and completely without Java, as others navigation software was written, those that works also. Example Garmin etc.

Of course it would be a good idea! It just requires a lot of time...

Surely it requires time and ressources, but I don't need it for free. I can pay for it the same price as for Garmin. I think I can pay even more, because Garmin don't allow satellite photos, but mgmap allows.

No need for complete rewrite! Just need a "Wrap up" the loader can use native code for Windows Mobile to interact with GPS and send info using TCP/IP on specific port. Very early developmental version can be found here http://iroot.ca/projects/mgmaps/Windows%20Mobile/ (DON'T expect it to do much)

The development is slow because I lost interest, but all the code is in SVN, feel free to help.

Well, the user said he/she tried to connect MGMaps with GPSPort and it didn't work... so I guess this won't work either.

I suspect that Mgmap listening port is not correct, but Mgmap dont allow to change it.

The TCP port is correct, otherwise it would not work on any Windows Mobile phone! It's the default port for GPSGate too, 20175.

Try this version of MGMaps attached... it fixes detection of JBed on Windows Mobile phones.

Try GPSPort instead of GPSGate.

I am using GPSPort, but in MGmap I can only choose GPSGate in GPS setup. Ports seem configured properly.

I can confirm the internal gps is working properly as mentioned in this thread.

My Device: CDMA HTC Touch Pro (Sprint)
OS: Windows Mobile 6.5 (Energy ROM Genesis)

Using JBed 20090216.5.1
Using MGMaps 1.42.01

I'll post this in the correct section.

So, I finally was able to install mgmaps and open stored maps. All that is fine and dandy.

However, GPS is not working.

This is what I have installed on my ASUS P750 <with internal GPS> :

JBed3dMod_HeapSizeFix_12.02.2008.cab
mgmaps-1_42_01.jad
mgmaps-1_42_01.jar
Windows Mobile 6.1
GpsPortPPC.exe

Selected mgmaps-> GPS --> GPSGate

Here is what I do to start the app:

Start GpsPortSP.exe < Tried two different settings COM4 20175 and COM5 57600>
Start JBED
Launch mgmaps <able to see stored maps>
Menu --> GPS --> Where Am I? <Gives the following error : GPS Position not yet determined. Make sure the phone can recieve/determine GPS info and the satellite signal stregnth is good, wait for a few seconds then try again. >

I have two other apps on the phone (Destinator and Travelogue). Both these are able to get the GPS signal.

Please let me know if I'm doing something wrong.
