Thanks Cristian for adding offline support for A780!

I haven't yet got to the point of browsing offline in mgmaps, but after updating registry.txt (and other steps) as prescribed for A1200 and overwriting permfile.txt - am able to browse the A780 folders, looks like offline browsing works!! Need to check forum for use of cache - just posting the jvm logs in case you can find something interesting in it... Will post further updates soon.

Thanks again!

For offline browsing, am not able to select cache path. When I click on browse -> /SD/ -> //SD/MGMapsCache/, the top line (status bar?) shows path as '//SD///SD/MGMapsCache/' with only '../' as the option. Just using clicks, am not able to set storage path. Directly typing 'SD/MGMapsCache' in textbox doesn't seem to be working too - shows map tiles unavailable. Any quick method to test offline mode?

Try to open a KML file from local storage... then look in Help/Debug Log if it doesn't work, maybe send a report using Help/Report Problem

well, getting exception "DESC: Error while initializing cache, MSG: Storage directory does not exist" in debug logs.

I don't think I got KML files, neither is my phone connected to internet (need to fix bluezx) - guess time to log off...

@Cristian,

Even for opening kml, am not able to browse more than one level (due to "/SD/SD/" in the path I guess). Could you please look into the same - meanwhile I will get my phone connected to internet...

OK, I understand that the file browser has some problems with slashes, but I thought you tried to enter the path manually. Anyway, here's an updated version for A780, let me know if it works any better.

still same results with "Storage directory does not exist" error. Also additional "javax.microedition.rms.Invalid RecordIDException, DESC: Error loading record #13" & #12 errors are appearing. This version too is able to access kml file.

Browsing for file is adding extra folder as before - except some '/' (slashes) are reduced now in the top status bar [/SD//SD/MGMapsCache].

Tried reporting problem online (directly from the phone) with the logs - but thats doesn't seem to be working.

OK, let me know exactly what have you entered for the cache folder. It should be "SD/MGMapsCache" (without the quotes).

OK, it seems I still haven't figured this out. Can you guide me through what is listed each time in the folder list (and what is the top status bar text) as you browse through the file system until reaching MGMapsCache?

Thanks,
Cristian

Right, thats exactly what am entering manually in textbox. Could you please add the path in the error log in next alpha version please ["MSG: Storage directory (configuredPath) does not exist"]

Heres the list (status bar contents after top-> ):

Click on Browse

top-> /
/phone/
/SD/

Click on SD

top -> /SD/
../
/SD/.system
<some more directories>
/SD/MGMapsCache/
<some more directories>

CLick on /SD/MGMapsCache/
top -> /SD//SD/MGMapsCache/
../

Click on ../
top -> /SD//SD/
../

Click on ../
top -> /SD/
../
/SD/.system
<some more directories>
/SD/MGMapsCache/
<some more directories>

Not sure how MGMapsCache gets selected?

Sure, but that does not provide any additional information (the configured path displayed will be the same with the one displayed in Settings/Map Browsing).

Thanks, this answers my question completely, I didn't know it lists the full absolute path and not the relative path (file names). I'll fix it and attach a new version soon.

Here's the next version to try... hope the file browser works now. Use it to select the folder then let me know if you still get that error with the mgmaps cache.

Just to make sure, the folder is "SD/MGMapsCache" without any slash before "SD"... Maybe I'll try some more fixes tomorrow.

Can you try this new version? I have removed the check for the existence of the cache folder (it still checks for cache.conf to be present).
